EDF Renewables new recruits part of plans for growth

EDF Renewables Ireland has appointed Stella Burke as senior policy analyst and Rachel Madigan as solicitor as part of its ongoing expansion plans.
Stella joins EDF from EirGrid. She will lead on engagement with key government bodies, trade associations and regulators. Rachel joins from Matheson. She will lead legal support for the development, construction and operation of onshore wind and solar projects in Ireland.
“It’s an exciting time for renewable energy development in Ireland, and there are a number of significant challenges that must be met to capitalise on the country’s potential for wind and solar energy,” said Kevin Daly, head of development at EDF Renewables Ireland.
“We’re very pleased to welcome Stella and Rachel to our ever-growing Irish team. Stella and Rachel will both play key roles in supporting our development team to help Ireland provide new sources of affordable, low-carbon electricity to consumers.”
EDF Renewables Ireland, part of one of the world’s largest electricity companies, opened its Dublin office in 2019. Its work on offshore wind, solar PV and battery storage projects is supported by over 300 colleagues in the UK.
EDF currently has a wind and solar project development pipeline of 800MW across Ireland, plus the offshore Codling Wind Park being developed with its partner Fred.Olsen Renewables.
Stella Burke was a project specialist with EirGrid. Prior to this, she was policy analyst and communications officer with Wind Energy Ireland, and has also held policy analyst roles with the Commission for Regulation of Utilities and the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications. She holds a BSc in Geology from NUIG and an MSc in Renewable Energy and Resource Management from University of Glamorgan.
Rachel Madigan was a senior associate with Mathesons energy and infrastructure team. She has extensive experience in advising a broad spectrum of domestic and international clients on project development, M&A, energy regulation and project finance matters. Rachel holds a BA in Law and Accounting from University of Limerick.
